AWS Services


AWS Backup is a fully managed backup service that makes it easy to centralize and automate the back up of data across AWS services in the cloud as well as on premises using the AWS Storage Gateway. Using AWS Backup, you can centrally configure backup policies and monitor backup activity for AWS resources, such as Amazon EBS volumes, Amazon RDS databases, Amazon DynamoDB tables, Amazon EFS file systems, and AWS Storage Gateway volumes. AWS Backup automates and consolidates backup tasks previously performed service-by-service, removing the need to create custom scripts and manual processes. AWS Backup provides a fully managed, policy-based backup solution, simplifying your backup management, enabling you to meet your business and regulatory backup compliance requirements.

Centralized Backup - AWS Backup

Object Storage - Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3)
Amazon S3 is an object storage service that stores data from anywhere – web sites and mobile apps, corporate applications, and data from IoT sensors or devices. It is designed to provide customers with the flexibility to tier data for cost optimization and the control to directly manage data access. Amazon S3 is the only cloud storage service with query-in-place functionality, allowing you to run analytics directly on your data at rest. The service also supports S3 Transfer Acceleration built to enable fast, easy, and secure data transfers over long distances.

Amazon S3 Glacier is a secure, durable, and low-cost storage class of S3 for data archiving and long-term backup. Customers can store large or small amounts of data for as little as $0.004 per gigabyte per month. The S3 Glacier storage class is ideal for archives where data is regularly retrieved and some of the data may be needed in minutes. S3 Glacier Deep Archive is a new Amazon S3 storage class that provides secure and durable object storage for long-term retention of data that is accessed once or twice in a year. From just $0.00099 per GB-month (less than one-tenth of one cent, or about $1 per TB-month), S3 Glacier Deep Archive offers the lowest cost storage in the cloud, at prices lower than storing and maintaining data in on-premises magnetic tape libraries or archiving data off-site.
Hybrid Storage - AWS Storage Gateway
AWS Storage Gateway is a hybrid storage service that enables on-premises applications to seamlessly connect to AWS storage services Amazon S3, Amazon S3 Glacier, and Amazon EBS. You can use the service to transfer data into the cloud with common storage interfaces, such as NFS and iSCSI. The service supports three different data-transfer modes so you can move files into Amazon S3 as objects, block storage volumes into Amazon EBS, and tape backups into Amazon S3 and Amazon S3 Glacier.
Block Storage - Amazon Elastic Block Storage (Amazon EBS)
Amazon EBS provides persistent block storage volumes for use with Amazon EC2 instances. Each volume is automatically replicated to protect from component failure. With Amazon EBS, customers can scale usage up or down within minutes and only pay for what is provisioned. The service also supports a snapshot feature that lets customers preserve and backup Amazon EBS volumes to be reinstatiated for use with Amazon EC2.
File Storage - Amazon Elastic File Service (Amazon EFS)
Amazon EFS provides scalable file storage. When mounted on Amazon EC2 instances, an Amazon EFS file system provides a standard file system interface and enables integration of Amazon EFS with existing applications. Multiple Amazon EC2 instances can access an Amazon EFS file system — serving as a common data source for workloads and applications. Amazon EFS has a built-in backup feature that automatically creates backups of the file system on a customer-defined schedule.

Data Transfer

AWS Snowball
AWS Snowball is a petabyte-scale data-transfer service designed to cost-effectively move data to AWS with secure, tamper-proof physical devices. The service mitigates common challenges with large-scale data transfers into and out of the cloud, including high network costs, long transfer times, and security concerns. Transferring data with AWS Snowball can be as little as one-fifth of the cost of high-speed Internet. The device is built to be tamper-proof and includes data encryption.
AWS Snowball Edge
AWS Snowball Edge is a 100 terabyte-scale data-transfer service. Like AWS Snowball, the service is designed to cost-effectively move data to the cloud with secure physical devices, with the additional benefit of onboard storage and compute capabilities. This means that customers can use AWS Snowball Edge as a temporary storage tier or to run workloads in remote or offline locations. Customers can cluster multiple AWS Snowball Edges together to form a local storage tier and process data so your applications can run even when they are not able to access the cloud.
AWS Snowmobile
AWS Snowmobile is an exabyte-scale data-transfer service used to move large amounts of data to the AWS Cloud. You can transfer up to 100 petabytes per AWS Snowmobile, a 45-foot long ruggedized shipping container pulled by a semi-trailer truck. AWS Snowmobile uses multiple layers of security to help protect your data, including data encryption, tamper-proof devices, dedicated security personnel, GPS tracking, alarm monitoring, 24/7 video surveillance, and an optional escort security vehicle while in transit.
AWS Kinesis Firehose
AWS Kinesis Firehose is a fully managed service that captures, transforms, encrypts, and loads streaming data into AWS for use with Amazon S3, Amazon Redshift, Amazon Elasticsearch Services, and Splunk. It is designed to enable near real-time analytics with existing business intelligence tools and dashboards you’re already using today. The service automatically scales to match the throughput of your data, requires no ongoing administration, and compresses data to minimize storage requirements. There is no minimum fee or setup costs, and you only pay for the amount of data you transmit.
AWS Migration Hub
AWS Migration Hub provides a single location to track the progress of application migrations across multiple AWS and partner solutions. The AWS Migration Hub allows you to use the tools that best fit your needs, while providing visibility into the status of migrations across your portfolio of applications. There is no additional cost for using AWS Migration Hub and you only pay for the cost of the individual migration tools you use and any resources being consumed on AWS.
AWS Database Migration Service
AWS Database Migration Service helps you transfer databases to AWS quickly and securely. The source database remains fully operational during the migration, minimizing downtime to applications that rely on that database. The service can transfer data to and from the most widely-used commercial and open-source databases. When migrating databases to Amazon Aurora, Amazon Redshift, or Amazon DynamoDB, you can use the service for free for up to six months.

Networking

Amazon CloudFront
Amazon CloudFront is a global content delivery network (CDN) service that securely delivers data, videos, applications, and APIs to your viewers with low latency and high-transfer speeds. You can get started with CloudFront in minutes using APIs, the AWS Management Console, AWS CloudFormation, CLIs, and SDKs. Amazon CloudFront offers a simple, pay-as-you-go pricing model with no upfront fees or long-term contracts.
AWS Direct Connect
AWS Direct Connect establishes a private connection between AWS and your data center, office, or co-location environment. The service allows for the same connection to access public resources (like S3 objects using public IP addresses) and private resources (like Amazon EC2 instances running in an Amazon VPC).
Elastic Load Balancing
Elastic Load Balancing (ELB) products automatically distribute incoming application traffic across multiple targets, such as Amazon EC2 instances, containers, and IP addresses. All ELB products are designed to handle the varying load of your application traffic in a single Availability Zone or across multiple Availability Zones. The AWS ELB portfolio includes three types of load balancers — Application Load Balancer, Network Load Balancer, and Class Load Balancer. All three support automatic scaling and are protected by security protocols so that your applications are fault-tolerant.
Amazon Route 53
Amazon Route 53 is a cloud Domain Name System (DNS) web service that is designed to give developers and businesses a reliable way to route end users to Internet applications. The service works by translating urls into numeric IP addresses and connecting user requests to infrastructure running in AWS. Customers can use the service to configure DNS health checks to ensure that traffic is routed to healthy endpoints.
Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (Amazon VPC)
Amazon VPC lets you provision an isolated section of the AWS Cloud where you can launch AWS resources in a virtual network that you define. You have complete control over your virtual networking environment, including selection of your own IP address range, creation of subnets, and configuration of route tables and network gateways.

AWS Global Infrastructure
The AWS Cloud Infrastructure is built around Regions and Availability Zones (AZ). An AWS Region is a physical location where there are multiple AZs. AZs consist of one or more discrete data centers. AWS operates AZs in mulitple geographic Regions around the world, with current plans to expand to more areas where our customers operate.
AWS Security & Compliance

AWS customers also have access to governance-focused, audit-friendly services to meet compliance and audit requirements.
